Lithium manganese dioxide batteries are the most frequently used lithium batteries and have a low self-discharge rate, high energy density and long shelf life (min. 10 years). However, they can only be stored and operated within a limited temperature range and should not be charged. Li/MnO2 batteries are often used in cameras, memory and RTC backup, medical instruments, transmitters and tracking devices. Button cells (coin type CR batteries) display a long-term stable operating voltage with a low load discharge rate and are used in watches, calculators and small electronic devices.
Lithium-ion batteries have a high energy density and are among the most powerful batteries. Compared to NiMH batteries, they have a low self-discharge rate and are not subject to memory effect.
