What are the different types of batteries and rechargeable batteries?
Lithium-ion batteries or lithium polymer batteries are used in smartphones. Lithium-ion batteries are also used in e-bikes, as these are currently the most powerful batteries available. Despite their compact design, they have a very high energy density, which is why they are mainly used in portable devices such as smartphones, wearables, tablets, notebooks and digital cameras. Lithium-ion batteries also have a high cycle stability, low self-discharge and no memory effect, making them the ideal solution for many applications. You can recognise a lithium-ion battery by the Li-Ion battery label in the product title.
Nickel-metal hydride batteries, NiMH batteries for short, together with lithium-ion batteries, are among the most commonly used rechargeable batteries. They are mainly used where very high energy capacity is required at a low price, such as in toys, power tools, torches and other lights. NiMH batteries are especially popular due to their low price. Devices that are offered with NiMH batteries cannot be used with lithium-ion batteries instead.
In addition to single unit batteries, we also offer battery packs. Battery packs are interconnected packages consisting of several battery cells. In other words, they comprise the inner workings of a battery. You can remove the battery packs of your batteries from the housing and replace them with a new battery pack from our shop, simply reusing the housing of your Li-Ion battery pack.
Extend the lifespan of your mobile phone by changing the battery
There are a few tips for getting a longer service-life and more charging cycles out of batteries. For example, the battery should be protected from extreme temperatures, as these cause lasting damage to the battery cells and result in a loss of capacity. Furthermore, the battery should be charged systematically. The optimum battery level is between 25 and 80 percent, and the battery should be charged within this range. Completely discharging the battery should be avoided if possible.
If a battery is approaching the end of its lifespan, this can be recognised by the following signs: The battery lasts a significantly shorter time than is specified by the manufacturer, the battery can no longer be fully charged or it does not charge at all. In some cases the battery charge drops sharply from one minute to the next, sometimes by up to 30 percent. If a battery starts to overheat or even deform, it is defective. If you notice any of these signs on your device, it is time to change the battery.
Is changing a battery complicated?
The level of difficulty when changing a battery yourself, depends largely on the appliance. On most modern smartphones, the back is permanently attached to the device, meaning it is no longer possible to change the battery within a matter of seconds (unlike on older models). However, replacing the battery in your own smartphone is achievable. With a little manual dexterity and the right opening tools, the back can be removed, allowing you to exchange the old battery for a new replacement battery. To ensure that the replacement battery fits correctly, it is important to pay close attention to the technical specifications, such as voltages, capacity and model designations.
It’s often frustrating when your tablet's battery is running low, as these devices are often purchased precisely because of their long battery life. If the tablet battery needs replacing, the process is similar to battery exchange in a smartphone. First of all, open the tablet with the appropriate pry tools, then loosen the battery with a screwdriver and remove the two ribbon cables. The next step is to detach the battery from the main circuit board using plastic tweezers and remove it from the device. You can now insert the new battery directly, reconnect it to the motherboard, join it to the ribbon cable and secure it with screws. The exact procedure for replacing the battery on your tablet will of course depend on the make and model of your tablet. With e-bikes, replacing the battery is much easier. Given that e-bike batteries are usually charged and stored away from the e-bike, all you have to do is select the matching replacement battery in the Electropapa battery shop. The same applies to camera batteries, as these can also be removed easily from the device.
