In Audi, Seat, Skoda and VW vehicles and more recently in Citroen and Peugeot, it is usual for the factory radios to supply the roof aerial with both power and the aerial signal via the aerial cable. This means that no separate cable is required to supply power to the antenna's integrated amplifier. However, if you replace the factory radio with an aftermarket device, radio reception can be significantly poorer as the amplifier in the aerial is no longer supplied with power and cannot function.
