Model Construction Batteries - Power Supply for Your Models
Model making is a popular hobby for people of all ages. Assembling models of ships, aeroplanes, cars, tanks, helicopters and more fascinates and inspires a large fan community. It is not uncommon for hobby model makers to invest a lot of time and money in constructing impressively intricate models to be proud of. If you yourself belong to the community of enthusiastic modellers, then you know that a good battery is the heart of a model: without it, the model cannot run properly. We want to help you find the right battery for your model - before you get lost in the model construction battery jungle!
Choosing the right model making batteries
Here you will find modelling batteries with different battery technologies. We offer lithium ion, lithium polymer batteries and NiMH model making batteries for your projects. NiMH batteries are generally cheaper than Li-ion batteries, so they are a good choice if you are looking for an especially cost-effective battery. Lithium ion batteries for model making or lithium polymer batteries for model making offer you better performance and longer runtimes. If you already own a battery-powered model, it is best to check which type of model building battery is currently installed in your RC model and choose a replacement battery with the same technology.
Selection criteria: Connection, capacity, voltage, C-value
To ensure that the model construction battery from vhbw fits perfectly into your device, it is important that you select a model construction battery that matches the connector in your model. There are several standard plugs in the model construction sector. Do you already know which model construction battery connector you need? Then you can use the connector designation as a guide. For example, we offer a variety of batteries with SM-2P plugs, SM-4P plugs and other connectors such as mini JST plugs, T plugs, BEC, Tamiya and other proprietary plugs. If you are not sure which designation your connector has, you can simply compare it with the connectors in our product photos. If you have any questions, our experienced Customer Service team will of course be happy to help you select the correct battery.
In addition to the battery technology and the connector plug, the capacity and voltage of the battery are of course essential. Depending on whether you need to power a drone, a boat or a car, you will need a different battery that is optimally matched to the device. Make sure that the voltage of the RC model making battery from our range has the same voltage as the battery that is already installed in your model. For example, if you have a 12 V model making battery in your drone, then you should select a 12 V battery accordingly. Capacity is measured in mAh. If the voltage and the connections match, you can also select a battery with a higher capacity in order to achieve a longer operating time. However, batteries with a higher capacity can be larger in size, so make sure to check whether the dimensions of the selected battery fit the battery compartment of your model.
A C-value is specified on some of our modelling batteries. This value describes the discharge rate and indicates the load capacity in continuous current. If you want to build a new model from scratch, then choose a modelling battery that can supply your model with power for a sufficiently long time. Calculate how much power your model consumes and how long you want to run it without having to recharge the battery in between.
If you are looking for an RC lithium polymer model making battery consisting of several cells, as is normally used in quadcopters, then the battery needs a balancer plug so that all cells can be charged evenly. The balancer plug is also connected to the charger and ensures that the charge difference between the individual cells is not too great. This is important, as too big a difference in charge and voltage between the individual cells can damage the battery or, in the worst case scenario, become a fire hazard. Here at Electropapa you will find LiPo model making batteries with a variety of balance connectors. The name of the balancer connector can be found in the data sheet of the respective battery. Choose a connector that also fits into the charger so that all battery cells can continue to be charged.
If you are looking to buy a new model making battery, it is important that you dispose of your old or damaged battery properly. Find out from your local recycling centre where and when you can hand in defective batteries. Proper disposal of batteries protects the environment and conserves precious resources.
